When Dr. Gail Weingast began her education in 1969, it was certainly not a given that she would become a doctor, let alone a world-class radiologist. She started by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Jackson College at Tufts University in Massachusetts, However, something was sparked soon after because she attended Boston University School of Medicine and officially earned the title of Dr. Gail Weingast, MD in 1976. Not only was her path chosen, but she even chose a specific direction; radiology.
Following medical school, Dr. Gail Weingast completed a pediatrics internship and a pediatrics residency, followed by a radiology residency and a fellowship in the field of ultrasound, all at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, before she completed her post-graduate radiology studies at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver. This all happened by 1984. Beyond that, she then practiced at several other hospitals in Colorado and New York, until landing at William W. Backus Hospital in Connecticut. Now, she couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. And she has transformed her department into one of the best in the country.
